At Primavera, we have some of the best, most talented, hard working students there are! That’s why we’ve decided to shine the light on a few of our amazing students.

Each month, our teachers nominate a student they feel has gone above and beyond, and we get the opportunity to get to know them and shine the light on them a bit in this blog!

Elementary School Student of the Month: Louis Herrera Dominguez

“Louis is a very driven 5th grader and takes pride in his work. Louis shoots for the moon on all of his assignments and his grades reflect that! When given a task, Louis gives 110% and does not settle for anything less of himself. When in live class sessions, Louis participates in class discussions, his camera is on and he is on task the entire time. I am impressed with Louis’s drive and even more so with his character! It is not too often I encounter a 5th grader who shows up to optional sessions to get help… Louis does this! I am proud to nominate Louis for student of the month for his effort and outstanding attitude since being enrolled in Primavera!”

Question: Why did you choose Primavera?

It was a good online school we heard about.

Question: What would you like your classmates to know about you?

I have many pets, 2 dogs, 1 cat and many fishes. I love to play soccer and football. Your favorite football team is the Cowboys, and my favorite soccer player is Messi. I have 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Question: What makes you a successful student?

What has helped me to be successful is studying and always asking questions and asking for help when I need it. If I am able to do better on an assignment I try it again to correct the ones I didn’t get right.

Question: What advice would you give other students to be successful?

I would tell other students to study hard, and to not let anyone or yourself convince you that you can’t do it. This is my first time receiving a student of the month award and I never thought it would be possible, but I just proved to myself that I can do it, and my parents always tell me this, so we should listen to our parents and teachers more!

Question: What do you want your teachers to know?

I am very thankful for you Ms. Whitfield. I have already learned so much from you and thank you for always taking your time to help me with my work when I need it. Thank you for guiding me and making online school so fun!

One reason that I wanted to do online school is because some subjects in class I was really fast at learning but for others subjects I need to learn it slowly and online school gave me that opportunity.

My classmates would know that I try my hardest in class.

Question: What makes you a successful student?

Question: What advice would you give other students to be successful?

Don’t stop trying even when you feel like giving up and ask questions.

Question: What do you want your teachers to know?

I try my hardest and very best. I make sure I understand what I am learning and if I don’t then I ask questions.

Question: Why did you choose Primavera?

I needed a school that had a flexible schedule so I could continue my cosmetology school at the same time and Primavera offered that flexibility along with the strongest student support system.

Question: What would you like your classmates to know about you?

I would like my classmates to know that I love to lift up others and serve the community. A struggle many probably don’t know I had is that I absolutely failed online school during Covid but I have finished strong by using the calendars and asking to redo assignments, I just wanted to put that in there so you know just because you have been failing it doesn’t mean you can’t be successful now!

Question: What makes you a successful student?

I wanted what was best for myself and I realized that my grades affected how I felt about myself so I decided to do the best. The success came from deleting social media (just because I am one of those people who cannot stop scrolling) then following the Primavera course calendar to keep up with the pace. I think my mindset also kept me going for example having a supportive mindset not only for you but for others helps you to strive in your goals sometimes, and that’s how I became a successful student.

Question: What advice would you give other students to be successful?

I would tell other students do what’s best for you because you deserve it since you’re working for it.

Question: What do you want your teachers to know?

I want my teachers to know I appreciate them so much! You have been nothing but supportive and helpful in my journey through senior year, thank you all!

Once again, congratulations to all of our Student of the Month recipients. We are proud of you for all you have accomplished!
