At Primavera, we are dedicated to providing our students with a personalized, quality education. As the largest high school in Arizona and a leader in online education, we help thousands of students achieve academic goals and earn their high school diploma.

Each year, more than 20,000 students take at least one course with Primavera. Even so, there are still many who are unfamiliar with online school and how it works. That’s why we decided to start this blog series, About Primavera, to help people become more familiar with who we are and how we can help you.

First, let’s clear up a few myths:

  • Primavera is tuition free
    • Public charter schools do not charge tuition, as many believe.
  • Primavera curriculum is legitimate
    • We are Cognia accredited. A diploma earned with Primavera is the same as any other traditional, accredited high school diploma.
  • Online school is not “easy”
    • There are certainly benefits. But online school provides the same rigor as a traditional school. Learn more here.

Now that we’ve cleared those up, let’s take a look at Primavera’s education.

About Primavera’s Quality Education

Primavera is a pioneer in digital learning with more than 15 years experience. During this time, we’ve built an intuitive online learning system, developed self-authored curriculum and created a structure that fosters constant teacher-student communication.

Let’s start with the online learning system.

Primavera has a unique Parent Student Portal and Learning Management System that you won’t find anywhere else in Arizona. Primavera is unique from other schools in that we do not purchase third-party systems. We tried that long ago, and we found it didn’t offer the quality our students deserve.

Parent Student Portal (PSP)

When a parent or student logs in to their PSP account, they will be able to view school announcements as well as featured videos and blogs. There is access to chat with teachers and view grades. This is also where a student can access courses.

Learning Management System (LMS)

Once a student launches a course, they have entered Primavera’s self-developed LMS. The layout and colors are customizable to the student’s liking. The system is extremely user-friendly, which means you will be able to focus on what you’re learning — not trying to figure out what to click or where to go next.

For a short tutorial of the LMS, watch this video.

Let’s get to the fun part: What you’ll be learning.

Award-Winning Curriculum

Some online school’s only source of learning comes through PDF’s and online reading materials. Some might add videos, but they are there for fluff. If they were removed from the lesson, you could still pass a test.

This is not the case for Primavera. We know there are many different learning styles, and students are only going to be engaged in their education if they enjoy it. That’s why we build quality, multimedia award-winning elements into our curriculum.

Our curriculum is aligned to state and national standards, which means Primavera is as challenging as your traditional high school.

The difference? Our coursework is designed to unlock the magic of learning for students and drive improved academic outcomes. Take a look at a few of the sample curriculum pieces below.

You can read a textbook and listen to a teacher lecture. Or: you can watch instructional videos, play educational games, read historical graphic novels and other elements as you learn.

“Primavera is committed to providing research-based, pedagogically sound and multi-media rich online curriculum that prepares students for college and careers,” said Primavera Superintendent Mori Creamer.

Personalized Support

Instructors are the backbone of a quality education. As such, they are the backbone of Primavera. All lessons are instructor-led. Students communicate with teachers through live online sessions, class discussions, phone calls, emails, instant messaging and 1-1 tutoring support. In fact, many of our students report that they receive more individualized attention here at Primavera than they did at their old schools. To learn more about Primavera’s personalized support model, head to this blog post

Do you service students in Texas? Is there a requirement that students were enrolled in a public school the previous year?

    • Hi, Amy. We do not require that students be previously enrolled in a public school; however, students must be a resident of Arizona in order to enroll with Primavera. Thanks for the question! 🙂

what is the age limit for the high school program?

Can I buy access to a single Primavera course? For example, if my son is homeschooled in Arizona, but I want him to take just Primavera’s Algebra 1 course, is there a way to do that?
